Political Correctness: Index
"It's a very odd situation in the year 2020 that we in Britain (and the West) are
having to defend free-speech.
"The UK political establishment narrows and controls the Overton window of political debate; imposes its 'progressive' values and intolerant left-liberal orthodoxy with the self-righteous fervour of 16th century Puritans; and silences and oppresses the population via state-enforced political correctness, hate speech, thought police, blasphemy laws, cancelling, deplatforming, censorship, shaming and other Orwellian techniques. The Hearts of Oak aim is to initiate sustainable public and non-public activities towards the common goals of reversing the current restrictions on free speech through education and activism, both at grassroots and online..."

"The Free Speech Union is a non-partisan, mass-membership organisation that stands up for the speech rights of its members ... The FSU will also have a research arm that publishes papers analysing why free speech is in jeopardy and makes policy proposals about how to protect it ... The FSU is not just for those who make a living through the expression of ideas ... Anyone who feels their speech rights are under threat, or who cares about free speech as an issue, is welcome to join ... We will come to your defence if you find yourself under attack for exercising your legal right to free speech, whether by the courts or the police, by your employers, by colleagues or activists, or by outrage mobs on social media and elsewhere."
Letter: What Is Free Speech? (03 March 2020)
"Dear Sir, What is free speech? In Britain, unlike America, we do not seem quite sure because we do not have a Bill of Rights. Zoe Strimple, writing in [The Telegraph] yesterday, said 'The cause of free speech, newly prominent, now offers an easy way for thugs to try to get away with it.' I think this approach to free speech is utterly wrong and misguided. Who defines what is thuggish or who is a thug? A thug cannot just be a working-class person with a Yorkshire accent or a middle-class person saying things that you disagree with. A non-violent 'thug' should have the same free speech rights as someone deemed by the establishment to be 'respectable'. Free speech cannot be defined by class; middle-class dinner party types being acceptable whilst everyone else is a 'gammon', or some equally derogatory word..."

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead! (12 April 2013)
"The BBC should allow the song Ding Dong the Witch is Dead to be played in its regular charts show if enough people vote to have it featured. This is a matter of freedom of speech, and freedom of speech is indivisible. You can't say that people should be allowed to express only those things of which you approve but that they must remain silent about what you dislike..."
The Real Hate Crime is Persecuting a Decent Man For His Beliefs (19 October 2012)
"Adrian Smith is a kind and gentle man. Friends say the happily married father is a pillar of the community, a practising Christian and a tireless worker for charity. Yet this week Mr Smith was in court, defending accusations that he is a bigot whose personal views are so offensive and outrageous that they are incompatible with his work as a housing officer. His crime?..."
Anti-Fascists Are Killing Free Speech (01 October 2012)
"Activists who call on the state to arrest and imprison 'fascists' for their speech crimes should look up irony in the dictionary. ... Are Britain's anti-fascist groups so blinkered, so convinced that the state is on their side and that they are the bearers of the Truth, that they can make statements celebrating the curbing of someone's free speech without even the slightest twinge of irony?..."

The Left's Orwellian Censorship Campaign (05 April 2012)

"In 1742, David Hume could write, 'Nothing is more apt to surprise a foreigner, than the extreme liberty, which we enjoy in this country, of communicating whatever we please to the public, and of openly censuring every measure, entered into by the king or his ministers.' YOUTUBE: Why Free Speech is All That Matters (17 February 2017)
"The Frankfurt School believed that as long as an individual had the belief - or even the hope of belief - that his divine gift of reason could solve the problems facing society, then that society would never reach the state of hopelessness and alienation that they considered necessary to provoke socialist revolution.
Their task, therefore, was as swiftly as possible to undermine the Judaeo-Christian legacy. To do this they called for the most negative destructive criticism possible of every sphere of life which would be designed to de-stabilize society and bring down what they saw as the 'oppressive' order. Their policies, they hoped, would spread like a virus - 'continuing the work of Western Marxists by other means' as one of their members noted.
To further the advance of their 'quiet' cultural revolution ... the [Frankfurt] School recommended (among other things):
(1) the creation of racism
One of the main ideas of the Frankfurt School was to exploit Freud's idea of 'pansexualism' - the search for pleasure, the exploitation of the differences between the sexes, the overthrowing of traditional relationships between men and women. To further their aims they would:
the authority of the father, deny the specific roles of father and
mother, and wrest away from families their rights as primary
educators of their children,
"There are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social state:
"Woe unto them that call evil
good, and good evil;
